Follow historical roads and live American history as you leave Washington, DC on your way to your final destination of Virginia Beach. Along the way, you will pass Mt. Vernon, the home of our Founding Father and first President George Washington, the famous civil war battlefields of Manassas (or "Bull Run" as the North called it), Fredericksburg, Mechanicsville, and the capitol of the Confederacy - Richmond, VA. As you wind your way though the heart of the Confederacy, suddenly you will find yourself in Colonial America and the settlements of Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown, stopping in the heart of the largest military bases in the U.S. The event ends with a USO sponsored VIP concert experience and community event.

This ride is a Category "C" (somewhat difficult)

The rides will be limited to 150 participants with a minimum $4,000 fee to cover your costs. There is an active duty military or VA employee discount of 50% ($2,000 required fee). Your $80 registration will be applied to the total you raise.

All wounded warriors ride for free by invitation only and must register to be considered for invitation. See below for invitation criteria.

Full week Challenge participants will receive a Ride 2 Recovery jersey, bib, socks, and t-shirt, as well as hotel housing, rider support, luggage transportation (70lbs max), daily route guides, marked course, rest stops, hydration and meals. Participants are responsible for transportation to and from the event. There may also be nighttime entertainment on selected evenings.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ONLINE!  Wounded Warriors, please note that your online registration does not guarantee you a slot on the ride. Participation is by invitation only. Contact your Project HERO Manager with any questions.

Invitational criteria may be based on one or more of the following:

1. Category (difficulty) of the ride

2. Participant's ability to successfully complete the ride

3. Participant's past history on R2R Challenges

4. Participation in R2R's Project Hero or Strava

5. Amount raised through rider page

Wounded warriors will be invited based on the above criteria about 60 days before the ride by email and will have one week to confirm participation. If you are not invited, you will be placed on a waiting list.

If you are unable to join us for the entire ride you may participate in any one day of the Challenge. The cost for a single day ride is $100 and includes a t-shirt, mechanical support, and hydration/snacks. ONE DAY RIDER REGISTRATION MUST BE COMPLETED BY 6:00 PM On May 20, 2016. ABSOLUTELY NO "DAY OF EVENT" REGISTRATION.

All volunteers must register online. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up here. We will be in touch to confirm your role. Please note that signing up to volunteer does not guarantee you a spot as a volunteer. Volunteers are chosen based on specific needs for a ride. Delvin McMillian

Delvin McMillian had one question for the Ride 2 Recovery team, “how can I join the ride?” UnitedHealthcare employee, Walter Chwalik, told Delvin about Ride 2 Recovery and showed pictures from his ride in Florida. Our question at R2R was “how can we make a bike that will allow Delvin to ride independently?
