Florida Challenge Event Information and Registration

Ride Overview

November 15 - 21, 2010
The ride begins at McDill AFB, home of CentCom and SoCom. The participants will head north along the gulf coast before turning right and heading into Florida horse country. With an overnight stop at the home of the Florida Gators including dinner inside the swamp. The ride continues east to the World Golf Resort, home of the PGA World Golf Hall of Fame. The Atlantic Ocean becons and a quick ride up the coast to the finish at Mayport Naval Base. But the excitement is not over as we head to the football game between the Home Jags vs. the Browns.

The rides will be limited to 200 participants with a minimum $3000 donation. Your $75 registration fee is applied to your fundraising goal. All injured veterans ride for free. There is an active duty Military or VA employee discount. The riders will receive a Ride 2 Recovery jersey, socks, and T-shirt. The donation will also include hotel housing, limited rider support, luggage transportation (70lbs max), daily route guides, marked course, rest stops, snacks, meals. Monday, Nov 15

Day One:

McDill AFB to Spring Hill
READY…SET…PEDAL!! All participants will leave from the top command post for all of the efforts in the war on terrorism. Many special VIP guests are joining the action including some high ranking Generals. Ride thru the heart of Tampa on our way north to Spring Hill.
Tuesday, Nov. 16 
Day Two:
Spring Hill to The Villages
Leaving Sping Hill and heading North east thru beautiful countryside as the group heads into Florida Horse Country

Wednesday, Nov 17

Day Three:

The Villages to Ocala
The City of Ocala is the heart of Horse country and where John Travolta has his big ranch. The mostly flat route features some of the lush pastuers and tree lined roads that many cyclists in this area love. There are a couple of shortcuts on some of the days for those that may need them, but for those up to a bigger challenge, enjoy the countryside....

Thursday, Nov. 18

Day Four:

Ocala to Gainesville
As we leave Florida horse country we head to Football Country and Gainesville, home of the Florida Gators...Watch out for the Swamp... Special Arrival greeting awaits the riders as we ride thru the University with dinner inside Gator Stadium AKA "the Swamp" If we are lucky, we may spot a Heisman winner or a football coach on his way to the National Championship Game.

Friday, Nov. 19

Day Five:

Gainesville to St. Augustine (World Golf Village)
A big send off awaits as we leave Gainesville and head to the home of the World Golf Hall of Fame. We are joined by the top man in the Navy (Admiral Roughead) for the last 2 days to the Finish

Saturday, Nov 20

Day Six:

St. Augustine (World Golf Village) to Jacksonville
. The ride goes north along the Atlantic coast with unbelievable vista's as we arrive to the USO Mayport to a welcome home celebration. After a brief respite, the finish awaits at the Jaguars vs. Cleveland Browns football game on Nov. 21 where the Jags will honor the Injured Veterans. Are you ready for some FOOTBALL!
